Long ago, when the Byzantine Empire was strong, the pious monks of the time would never consider cutting their hair, and definitely not their beards! Over a thousand years later, it’s still that way. Keeping with orthodox tradition, the monks feel the time has come to share with you their pure and natural beard oils and balms.

At Byzantine Beard our goal is to have the most effective and balanced formulas in our oils and balms, for growing thicker, stronger hair and providing skin with a variety of vitamins, nutrients, and antibacterial properties to help with the itchy or flaking skin that can be common with some beards.

Founded May 31st, 2018 on a beautiful spring day at Holy Transfiguration Monastery, in Redwood Valley, CA. Sometime between noon prayer and Vespers, John Mance and Abbot Father Damian shared a vision of men everywhere having properly moisturized and well groomed beards. A great harvest of dry, unkempt beards was a massive undertaking indeed, the laborers were few, but with determination and a lot of Grace, they got started and are still working together today.
